3rd eduPED consortium meeting in Spain

We are thrilled to share the outcomes of the 3rd consortium meeting for the eduPED project, which recently took place in the vibrant cities of Terrassa and Barcelona, Spain.

The eduPED mission is centered on a transformative vision: leveraging the unique infrastructure and communal capacity of educational campuses to spearhead the transition toward PEDs. This meeting served as a milestone for synchronizing our international efforts and deepening our research-driven solutions.

The first day in Terrassa focused on reflecting on our collective progress and strengthening the collaborative synergy between our international academic and municipal partners. Key discussions revolved around:

  • Synthesizing cross-disciplinary research findings.
  • Advancing the strategic roadmap for living labs.
  • Aligning project phases to ensure a seamless transition from theory to urban implementation.
  • Technical deep-dive: Shaping sustainable campuses

As the dialogue transitioned to Barcelona, the focus shifted toward practical and research-driven applications for energy efficiency. The consortium explored:

  • Active and passive measures: Strategies to drastically reduce energy consumption across educational infrastructures.
  • Simulation and optimization: Advanced approaches for assessing and optimizing building energy demand.
  • Energy flexibility: The critical role of living labs in testing and enhancing grid flexibility.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Developing inclusive strategies to ensure that our technical solutions have a lasting, positive impact on the community.

These insightful exchanges are instrumental in shaping the next steps of the eduPED project. By combining technical excellence with strategic stakeholder alignment, we are reinforcing our shared vision for sustainable, energy-efficient, and climate-neutral urban environments.

A special thank you to our hosts, particularly Nuria Garrido, for facilitating such a productive and inspiring series of sessions.
