This work package focuses on developing adaptation strategies that support energy-efficient communities and living labs by mapping the potential of local renewable energy sources, energy flexibility, and multi-commodity grids. It plays a critical role in the project as the most technically oriented work package, addressing both the practical pathways to achieving Positive Energy Districts and the legislative frameworks that enable energy communities to operate effectively across different national contexts.

Current work centres on mapping electricity, solar, wind, and thermal networks, with a strong emphasis on energy flexibility. This involves identifying peak energy demand in buildings and exploring ways to shift consumption to other times of the day. Key milestones already achieved include establishing national legislative frameworks and mapping solar potential. The next steps focus on detailed flexibility and feasibility analyses to determine where such measures can realistically be implemented. While challenges remain, particularly in accessing granular energy data and integrating legal considerations not initially foreseen, the collaborative development of country-specific regulatory analyses stands out as a major achievement and provides a strong foundation for the work ahead.
