eduPED at the "Technical Intersections" Forum in Cluj-Napoca

The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN) marked its presence at the inaugural edition of the “Technical Intersections” (Intersecții Tehnice) forum, held on November 20, 2025, in Cluj-Napoca, to highlight the critical role of university campuses in driving the shift towards Positive Energy Districts (PEDs).

The “Technical Intersections” forum was organized by the Transylvania Cluj and Brașov branches of the Romanian Association of Building Services Engineers (AIIR).

The event served as a dedicated space for dialogue, uniting engineers, entrepreneurs, university staff, and public institution representatives to collaboratively address industry challenges and build solutions for a more transparent and connected installations sector.

The forum’s agenda was structured around four core technical themes vital for sustainable development:

  • Water Infrastructure

  • Energy Efficiency

  • HVAC-R Systems

  • Fire Safety

Within the Energy Efficiency section, Assoc.Prof.PhD.Eng. Tania Rus, UTCN Coordinator, delivered a valuable presentation on the European research and innovation project eduPED.

The presentation, titled “Educational campuses as promoters for Positive Energy Districts”, focused on how university campuses, including the one in Romania, can act as “Living Labs” to test and implement new strategies for energy transition and urban sustainability.

UTCN’s active involvement, presented at a major industry forum like “Technical Intersections,” underscores the university’s commitment to cutting-edge research and the practical implementation of solutions for a greener, climate-neutral future.
